AISD Consolidation

On Friday, AISD released the draft proposal for school consolidation. This plan affects almost every AISD school in some way. For Campbell, the proposed changes include welcoming the current Maplewood students into our school, as Maplewood is proposed to be closed.

This draft plan is not yet finalized, and there are many steps left in the process. The plan will be discussed at the AISD information session on October 9th. There will be AISD-led community open houses soon as well; we’ll share details about these as they’re available.

We invite you to join us at the PTA meeting this Wednesday, October 8th to discuss the changes AISD is facing and how we can support our scholars, dragon leaders, and neighbors throughout this process. Stay dragon strong!

PTA Meeting 

Our next PTA meeting is Wednesday, October 8th at 5:30pm! There will be free pizza and childcare as usual, and you can join remotely here through Google Meet. We’ll be discussing upcoming events like the Fall Festival.

We will also open the floor to discussion about the proposed consolidation plan. We encourage you to bring your questions and ideas for how we can respond constructively to these potential changes in our community.

Prime Time After School 

Prime Time is almost here! Registration for our beloved Campbell after school program is open now through October 8th!

The programming at Prime Time includes our Step and Dance teams, Cheerleading, Sports, Arts & Krafts, and more. And it begins October 14th! Learn more and sign up here today!

Campbell T-Shirt Design Contest 

Our annual Campbell T-Shirt Design Contest is underway now! Entry forms have been sent home with scholars. All blue dragons are invited to submit a design, and the winner will be printed on t-shirts which will be sold through the PTA!

Remember, these designs should be in one color and dragon strong. Turn in submissions to your dragon leader by Friday, October 17th!

Fall Festival 

The days are getting shorter, and Fall Festival is almost upon us. This spooky event is a great opportunity to show off your costumes, get some treats, and have fun with the blue dragon community.

Join us at Campbell on Thursday, October 30th 6-8pm! And learn more about volunteering or contributing at this week’s PTA meeting!

Camps for Upcoming Days Off 

Don’t get caught off guard, there are several school holidays coming up!

Friday, October 10th is a student holiday / PLED day

Monday, October 13th is a student and staff holiday for Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Monday, October 20th is a student holiday for Diwali and parent conferences

Tuesday, November 4th is a student holiday / staff development day for Election Day

If you need childcare for these days, there are options!

Austin Parks and Recreation offers day camps at multiple locations, including the nearby Mendez Recreation Center and Pan Am Center. The cost is $28 a day for Austin residents. Learn more here and register here now!

Snack Shack 

Snack Shack is in full swing, and we need more help for upcoming Fridays!

Every Friday, we need volunteers and donations to make Snack Shack run! If you’re interested in selling the snacks, you can sign up here through the rest the year (don’t forget to register as a volunteer! Details below). Volunteering involves being at the school from 2:35 until about 3:30, and selling the snacks at one of our three stations.

And if you want to donate goods to be sold, you can sign up here. Thank you in advance for your support, we can’t run Snack Shack without you!

AISD Volunteer Process 

The PTA runs on help from volunteers—we couldn’t do it without our community! And AISD has a process for volunteers to register and be cleared to help out at school events.

If you want to volunteer at a PTA-organized event, or any event at Campbell, please register here first! You just need to create an account and complete the volunteer requirements, it should take 10 minutes or less.

It may take a few days to get cleared. When you get a confirmation email please forward it to us at volunteer@bluedragonpta.org! (If you’re not seeing this confirmation email, please check your spam folder.)
